Dr. Pagano handles all manner of intellectual property related issues, including patent prosecution, non-infringement and invalidity opinions, and technology-transfer and license agreements. His practice has focused on pharmaceuticals, medicinal chemistry, target-driven drug discovery, formulation development, fine and specialty chemicals, health care products, cosmetics, "nutraceuticals" (dietary and nutritional supplements), and many other life science disciplines.
After earning his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry in 1994, from The Pennsylvania State University, Dr. Pagano completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Rutgers, New Jersey. During his university training, he performed research and authored scientific papers published in The Journal of Organic Chemistry and The Journal of the American Chemical Society. Then, before entering law school, he worked as a research scientist in industry, where he was named as an inventor on three issued U.S. Patents.
In 1999, after passing the Patent Bar Exam, Dr. Pagano began practicing before the United States Patent and Trademark Office with the law firm of Pennie & Edmonds LLP (Now Jones Day) in New York City. At Pennie, he trained under top intellectual property lawyers Laura Coruzzi (IP Law & Business Patent Hall of Fame) and Anthony Insogna. After three years, he left Pennie to join the Tech Group of Lowenstein Sandler PC, in Roseland, New Jersey, where he practiced until July of 2004.
